Summer Camp - Leaders-in-Training
Session 1: June 24- July 21
Session 2: July 22– August 18
Boys and girls who will be 15 years old by the start of their session are eligible to apply for our unique LIT Program. This
program is significantly different than regular camp, and is set up as its own entity. The primary purpose of this intensive, four-week program is to teach leadership skills that will benefit the LIT in his/her home, school, and community. The experience is designed to teach leadership skills including communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution. These skills are taught through many activities from discussions and teambuilding challenges, to speakers and hands-on leadership opportunities, all the while emphasizing the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility

What are LITs saying about their experience in the program?:

- 98 % of LITs feel that they leave the program with new leadership skills.
- 98 % of LITs feel that they leave the program as a better person than when they started.
- 100 % of LITs said that they learned and/or practiced the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility during the LIT program.
- 100% of LITs felt that the staff also embody these values.
(Results based on the 2011 LIT Program Survey)
I had a lot of fun, and got really close to everyone here - it was a really eye opening experience, and was the best time I've ever had at Camp Woodstock, in my 4 years coming!
- 2011 LIT
In the LIT program, I learned it's important to be yourself, and never pass up an opportunity to help or make a new friend.
- 2011 LIT
In the program, it's important to enjoy every second of it because it goes by so fast. It's also important to not be afraid to be yourself, because everyone gets so close, and will love you for who you are.
- 2011 LIT
I've enjoyed every moment I had here (at camp), and this summer will stay with me forever. I've made many new friends, and the program really helped me grow as a person.
-2011 LIT
The positive environment and the support of the other LITs and LIT Directors helped me open up and learn a lot about myself and grow as a person and a leader.
